Boy Meets Girl: The Movie

writing screenplays movies stories love romance film video

Doug Bagot and myself wrote this original screenplay when we were working doing renovations. We were pretty bitter and bleak about how our lives were working out. (We had a regular spot on CBC radio doing comedy as "Bitter & Bleak" on a program that morphed into DNTO, along with Sook-Yin Lee and Nora Young. -- Sook-Yin plays Judy in the movie Boy Meets Girl. Nora hosts Sparks.) We chose not to put anything cynical or dark into the screenplay. There was to be no villain and it was meant to be a completely feel-good romp! I am very proud of the screenplay. It was recognized as being superb by The Writer's Guild of Canada as well as most people who read it. Taking a break from filming a scene with Joe Montagna, Kate Nelligan makes a lovely statement about the writing in the script of Boy Meets Girl, in this MovieTV Television piece. Boy Meets Girl was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
